2025 Women's Equality Day Celebration
“Defending Democracy”
Women's Equality Day commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting the right to vote to women. The amendment was first introduced in 1878. In 1971, the U.S. Congress designated August 26 as Women's Equality Day.
Women’s Equality Day 2025 Celebration Hosted by LWV-Greater Chippewa Valley in partnership with Downtown Eau Claire Inc. (DECI) Friday, August 22, 3:00–7:00pm.
Join us for a dynamic afternoon and evening honoring Women’s Equality Day through community, conversation, and celebration!
- 3:00–5:00pm | Downtown Stroll Explore Eau Claire’s vibrant downtown in small walking groups, visiting women- and minority-owned businesses. Enjoy warm conversation with owners, support local shops, and celebrate the richness of our community.
- 5:00–7:00pm | Gathering at Menomonie Market Food Co-Op Hear stories from local entrepreneurs about their journeys, partnerships, and how democratic values shape their businesses. We'll conclude with light refreshments, Suffragist Sips, and a celebratory toast to the League’s legacy and vision for the future.
